Make Your Own Earring
Stand
CD Spindle
When making your own earring
stand, there are
many options simply laying around your home, which makes
the task just a little easily accomplished. One super
simple project is to used a leftover cd rack; the one
leftover from using all your blank CDs. It is basically a
plastic base with a spindle in the middle. The other
supplies you need are:
Once you have all your supplies, you are ready to begin. Use
the following list to start, remember that you can modify the
project to suit your own needs.
-
Using
either the drill or the hole punch create holes around
the rim of the used CD or plastic protector CD. Go all
the way around and remember to leave space for wear and
for the size of the earring you will be hanging from
it. You do not want delicate earrings rubbing up
against rough or jagged ones. If you are drilling and
using the used CD drill on the label size to prevent
bits of plastic from flying around, possibly injuring
you.
-
Take the
glue and squire or a little on the wax
paper.
-
Utilizing
the Toothpick, get a little glue on it and run it
around the top of the spindle then on the inner ring of
your CD; this is the center hold of the
CD.
-
Before
the glue dries, hold the CD onto the top of the spindle
where you applied the glue. It should create a large
enough space between the bottom of the spindle and the
CD for earrings to hang undisturbed. When you feel it
is secure you can let go.
-
Let this
dry overnight, before moving any further with these
directions.
-
Once you
have let 24 hours go by you should be able to use it.
Some people choose to decorate it at this point, which
possibly means leaving it to dry again if you use
paint.
-
Hang your
earrings and you are done.
Cardboard Earring Stand
Fold a
piece of cardboard into a triangle. The easies way to
manage this, is to take it from an old square
box.
-
Pick a
side of the box that is clear of labels or writing and
cut to the right and left of it with a box cutter. You
will be left with a rectangle that has two
folds.
-
Now pick
fold/bend it once more in half, length-wise if dealing
with a rectangle. You should now have three folds, all
going the same direction.
-
Bend into
a triangle shape where two of the fold, that form the
base, overlap.
-
You will
then glue or staple the overlapping pieces
together.
-
At this
point you can decorate.
-
Lastly,
poke holes for your earrings. With stud earrings you
should be able to poke holes used them alone and their
backs will secure them on the cardboard. Other earrings
that are less strong will require you to use an
alternate object to make the
hole.
Modern Art Earring Stand or
Rack
All this
requires is an old picture frame of any size and a sheet
or piece of clothing fill the hole where the picture
should be. The idea is that the cloth or sheet piece will
fill the hole and allow you to push your earrings through
it to hang. The only difficult part is making the cloth
stay. Follow these steps for best
results.
-
Cut a
picture frame shape out of cardboard or foam board. It
should be big enough to fit into a frame and not be too
small.
-
Pull your
fabric across the frame snuggly securing it with glue
or stapes. Remember the edges can be hidden by the real
frame or decoration.
-
Now glue
the fabric cover cardboard into the frame or snap it in
place should it come with
holders.
-
You
should decorate it now and let it dry before you hang
your earrings on it.
Whether or not you make your
own earring
standor purchase on, the
most important part is that they are more than helpful.
Many earrings get lost and others damaged in drawers or
cases. If you are a collector, then consider that a stand
is simply protecting your investment. Everyone wants to
take care of the items that matter to them
most.
